چکیده
Garden Dormouse ( Eliomys quercinus ) populations have declined by 50% throughout Europe over the last 30 years. They are increasingly found in German cities, but little is known about their urban lifestyle. A radiotelemetry study was performed city of Wiesbaden, to investigate daily resting habits Dormice. The location and structure nest sites used for daytime rest (DNS) five individuals (one female, four males) were recorded each every second day during months May July 2021. animals located 90 times total a DNS, two six different DNS per animal identified. hedges, trees, bird nests, facade greening, boxes, inside buildings. Dormice this often that provide consistent temperatures (false floors, walls) high degree protection from predators. with visual cover possible food supply (facade hedges) also used. frequency which changed varied greatly depending on individual. dormice showed adaptations living, as at least one anthropogenic DNS. Recommended conservation measures areas, based study, include raising public awareness promotion greening (climbing plants walls fences), hedges old Further research life areas needed.

Implications of being born late in the active season for growth, fattening, torpor use, winter survival and fecundity
For hibernators, being born late in the active season may have important effects on growth and fattening, hence on winter survival and reproduction. This study investigated differences in growth, fattening, energetic responses, winter survival and fecundity between early-born ('EB') and late-born ('LB') juvenile garden dormice (Eliomys quercinus). LB juveniles grew and gained mass twice as fast...

متن کاملPlanning for sites having ability to temporary settlement in urban scale in AHP method in Qom
Background and objective: The necessity of pre-disaster reconstruction planning is obvious since Iran is located in the Alpine-Himalayas seismic belt as well as according to several earthquake experiments in different urban and rural regions. Qom is one of the high risk zones in Iran (code 2800). On the other hand, there aren’t any experiments for temporary settlement after earthquake in conce...
متن کاملNest Predation in a Neotropical Forest Occurs during Daytime
Alexander Skutch suggested that the threat of nest predation on tropical birds favors reduced activity near their nests. This hypothesis assumes that nest predation occurs during the day when adult birds are active, but few studies of tropical species have reported distributions of nest losses during the day-night cycle. We used thermistors placed in nests to record the time of nest predation e...
متن کاملLate-born intermittently fasted juvenile garden dormice use torpor to grow and fatten prior to hibernation: consequences for ageing processes.
Torpor is thought to slow age-related processes and to sustain growth and fattening of young individuals. Energy allocation into these processes represents a challenge for juveniles, especially for those born late in the season. We tested the hypothesis that late-born juvenile garden dormice (Eliomys quercinus) fed ad libitum ('AL', n = 9) or intermittently fasted ('IF', n = 9) use short torpor...
